The Water Garden has remained practically bird free for nearly three months. The impact has been incredible. It appears that the key to our problem was to begin the bird control before the birds had become settled for the winter.

Dear Bruce;

I would like to give you an update on the success of our Phoenix Wailer installation. The Fort Worth Water Garden is a five acre park located on the south edge of the downtown area. It contains 137 mature live oak trees and from early September until mid March it has been the evening roosting site for an estimated 500,000 great tailed grackles.

In late August of this year the Parks and Community Services Department purchased and installed a Phoenix Wailer and six speakers in the park. We also started using a special noise maker shotgun shell. After two weeks of shooting from 6:00p.m to 8p.m. and the continued use of the Wailer for two hours every evening, the Water Garden has remained practically bird free for nearly three months. The impact has been incredible. It appears that the key to our problem was to begin the bird control before the birds had become settled for the winter.

Sincerely,

Emerson M. Vorel, Jr.
